Being able to share the beautiful landscapes of Banff National Park with couples is one of the reasons I became a Banff wedding photographer. Sophia and Doug's beautiful wedding at the luxurious Banff Park Lodge was one to remember. Continue reading to find out why!
Banff Wedding Photographer at a Downtown Banff Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
Sophia and Doug travelled from Wisconsin with their family and closest friends to take in the views of the Rocky Mountains for their Banff wedding photography. They asked me to photograph their rehearsal dinner at St. James's Gate Irish Pub in Banff which ended up being a ton of fun with great food, drinks and dancing into the night! Having a rehearsal dinner is always a great way for the two families to meet, catch up and get ready for the wedding on the following day. It was amazing to see Sophia and Doug's friends come together in Banff from across the 4 corners of the United States to celebrate with them. As a Banff wedding photographer, I get to photograph a lot of rehearsal dinners but this one was truly one to remember!
Luxurious Wedding Details at this Banff Park Lodge Wedding
The wedding day arrived and, as their Banff wedding photographer, I showed up bright and early to photograph Sophia getting ready at Banff Park Lodge. Her wedding day jewelry and accessories were some of the nicest that I've seen in recent memory: Louis Vuitton shoes, exquisite rings and a Burberry watch. I got some fantastic shots of Sophia's mother helping her put her dress and jewelry on in front of the mirror as well as some group shots with her bridesmaids. One of my favourite moments from that morning was when Sophia opened a letter from Doug and read it; tears of joy rolled down her cheeks and she smiled. I was so happy to be their Banff wedding photographer that day and I feel privileged to have experienced these moments of happiness with her.
Banff Wedding Photographers' Favourite Venues: Tunnel Mountain
Tunnel Mountain is one of my favourite Venues in Banff and I think that most Banff wedding photographers would agree with me. It's an outdoor venue set on a grassy field overlooking the Western edge of Mount Rundle and the Bow River. You have amazing views looking down the valley towards Canmore and Tunnel Mountain's massive cliffs loom above to the right. Sophia arrived in an exquisite Rolls Royce limo from Alpine Limo and there was a very emotional moment between her and her father that I was able to capture just as she stepped out of the car. With her veil on and holding her father's arm, Sophia walked down the aisle towards Doug, who I could tell was overcome with emotion. The ceremony was a wonderful celebration of love with heartfelt vows and lots of laughter and tears in the audience and centerstage alike. As their Banff wedding photographer I worked with my second shooter to focus on capturing candid moments between the bride and groom but also the audience.
Big weddings always a lot of fun, but so are smaller elopements!

After the ceremony was complete, we drove to Surprise Corner for some couples photos and then to Banff Park Lodge for the wedding reception. Weddings at Banff Park Lodge are always great because the food is amazing, they have a huge dance floor and plenty of seating for large gatherings. After an exciting grand entrance with the entire wedding party, the parents delivered some emotional toasts and the dance floor was opened up. Thank you Sophia and Doug for choosing me to be your Banff wedding photographer, it was a day I will never forget!
